Customize a layer

Links, alt text, where a layer shows, exporting a layer as an image, and image formats.

Select any layer inside the email to open it in the Customize tab, where its controls depend on what the layer is. Sendra remembers every setting per layer, for each email frame in your file.

Any layer can carry a link. For a button, add the link on the button’s frame, so the whole button is clickable. For an image, add it on the image.

Link takes any of these, and ships it exactly as typed:

  • A web address: https://example.com/offer
  • An email address: mailto:hello@example.com
  • A phone number: tel:+15551234567
  • A text message: sms:+15551234567
  • A merge tag your email platform fills in: {{ unsubscribe_url }}. See Personalization and merge tags.

A web address typed without its scheme, like example.com, gets https:// added.

Images and vector artwork take alt text: what a screen reader says, and what shows when a client hides images. Leave it empty for a purely decorative shape.

Show on decides where a layer appears: Desktop + Mobile, Desktop only, Mobile only, or Hidden. Use it to design a version of a section for each screen, or to leave a layer out of the email without deleting it from the design.

Export as image exports the layer as one picture, exactly as designed. Use it for overlapping layers or artwork that has to be reproduced precisely. Text inside becomes part of the picture.

Each image exports as PNG or JPG. An animated GIF keeps its animation when its format stays GIF; choosing PNG or JPG makes it a still image.

For a frame, Item type tells Sendra whether it is a plain frame or a button. A button gets the button’s mobile options, such as full width on phones.

Properties has Reset, which clears every saved setting for the email: links, alt text, visibility, mobile overrides, preview text and canvas background. Your Figma design stays untouched.
