# Export to MailerLite

Design in Figma, export with Sendra, paste into MailerLite's Custom HTML editor. MailerLite sends it as you designed it.

MailerLite's own pages disagree on whether the free plan includes the Custom HTML editor: its June 2026 plan update says it does, and other pages still name a paid plan. When you start a campaign, check that **Custom HTML editor** is offered.

## Before you start

- Put your images online: turn on **Host images online** in Sendra, or use your own image URLs. You can also import a zip with the images, below.
- Set your preview text in **Properties**. It travels in the file.
- On the free plan, MailerLite adds its logo at the bottom of every email.

## What MailerLite needs in every email

**Unsubscribe link.** Type "Unsubscribe" in your footer, select it, and put this in its **Link** field: `{$unsubscribe}`. MailerLite does not send a campaign without one. Give the link its own text layer, since Figma's link box will not accept a tag.

**Name and postal address.** Type your name and postal address into your footer text. MailerLite's terms ask for both, and its help names no tag for the address. `{$account}` fills in your account name if you want it.

Note: type the tags exactly as shown, with the dollar sign. MailerLite's tags are case-sensitive. See [Merge tags](/personalization-and-merge-tags/) for how Sendra treats them.

## Tags you will use most

Type these in Figma exactly as shown. Text tags go in a text layer, link tags go in a Link field.

| What it does | Tag | Where |
|---|---|---|
| First name, with a fallback when MailerLite has none | `{$name\|default('there')}` | text |
| Account name | `{$account}` | text |
| Unsubscribe | `{$unsubscribe}` | Link |
| Update preferences | `{$preferences}` | Link |
| View in browser | `{$url}` | Link |

The preference center behind `{$preferences}` comes with MailerLite's paid plans.

## Preview text

Leave MailerLite's **Preheader** empty on the campaign details page. Your preview text is already in the file.

## Paste it in

1. In MailerLite, go to **Campaigns** and click **Create**. Choose the campaign type and fill in its details.
2. Choose **Start from scratch**, then **Custom HTML editor**.
3. Bring in the HTML, one of two ways:
   - Choose **Code from scratch**. In Sendra, click Copy HTML, and paste it into the editor.
   - Choose **Import HTML Code** and upload the zip from Sendra's **Export package**. MailerLite saves the images to your File manager. Its help does not describe the zip it expects, so check that every image shows in the editor.
4. Click **Done editing**.

To keep it as a template, open **Actions** on the campaign and choose **Save as template**.

## Check it

Click **Preview and test**, then **Send a test email**. Enter your address and click **Send test**. The subject starts with [TEST], and the unsubscribe link does not work in a test.

Then open the test on a phone. MailerLite turns the styles in an email into inline styles when you save, and its help does not say what happens to the styles Sendra uses for phones. Compare the test with Sendra's phone preview; if they differ, write to [support@hellosendra.com](mailto:support@hellosendra.com).

Compare it with the test you sent from Sendra too. They should match; MailerLite adds tracking to your links, which is normal.

## Changing it later

Keep Figma as the source: change the design, export again, and paste the new version on the **Code** tab. MailerLite keeps a version history. Once a campaign is sent, it cannot be edited.

## Dynamic content

MailerLite fills subscriber fields such as the name at send time. [Merge tags](/personalization-and-merge-tags/) shows how to use tags in text, links and image URLs.
